My name is Margaret Bird.
I am trained in expressive therapies, somatic experiencing and EMDR. I am a registered clinical counsellor with the B.C.A.C.C., a certified counsellor with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association, and a certified play therapist with C.P.T.A..

I specialize in trauma, grief, ADHD, parenting issues, addictions, burnout and systemic issues in the workplace. I have worked extensively with indigenous communities, intergenerational trauma and addictions.

As a busy professional, I understand how challenging life can be as we negotiate the many roles we play in life. Sometimes it helps to have someone listen to us, hear us, validate us, and offer new insights or coping and healing strategies. I have been in the counselling field for many years. I have engaged with
individuals in remote communities, urban agencies, a residential treatment centre, and online.

I work with men, women, children and adolescents from a client-centered, strength-based, attachment-focused, developmental, and trauma-informed perspective. I work with couples and individuals. My clients have presented with issues relating to trauma, addiction, grief and loss, parenting issues, relationship issues, and life transitions. I also work with counsellors experiencing trauma, burnout, vicarious trauma, or other systemic issues in the workplace.

When working with clients, I strive to develop a therapeutic relationship in which clients feel safe and heard. We work together to identify the goals and tasks to address in the work.

Looking forward to connecting with you
